Safety
Safety
Safety is Mongstad’s highest priority and is core to our operational culture. We operate in one of the most technically challenging and uniquely complex environments in the industry, and work to ensure the freedom from risk for all employees, contractors, the environment, and the public.
We require an equal safety commitment from our contractors and vendors working at our facilities. Our contractors are screened by Mongstad prior to each offshore deployment to ensure compliance with Mongstad health, safety and environment (HSE) requirements and that they are prepared and fully trained to perform the work they are hired to do.

“Having been with Equinor’s Mongstad Refinery since 1999 and held a number of central management positions within Upstream Operations Norway, including Senior Vice President for Technical Excellence in Technology, Projects & Drilling, Senior Vice President for Operations North Sea, Vice President for Modifications and Project Portfolio Bergen, Platform Manager at Oseberg South and Chief Operating Officer (COO), until 2021 when I became the Executive vice president safety, security and sustainability, it’s clear to see the company’s unwavering commitment to safety and well-being. This commitment extends not just to its employees and contractors but towards the protection of the environment as well. The safety culture at Mongstad, aimed at ensuring the welfare of our people and the world around us, is something I proudly support. Participating in this culture through rigorous training and keen observation is not only rewarding but feels like a genuine contribution to Mongstad’s ongoing success.”
